Truck Repair: Engine light, internal engine components, dakota sport

Question
Hey, I realize that you are not a Dodge man but maybe you can still help me. My 02 Dakota Sport is at 99,000 miles and my engine light recently came on and the code read {02 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (bank 2 sensor 2)}. I was just wondering what that means and is it a must fix. Will it damage my engine if i don't fix it?

Answer
Hi Craig,
Fault codes troubleshooting requires that one has the details particular to it to have a successful repair.
In this case, heater circuit malfunction may not pose any serious risk in the short term but you need to be sure that your intake system will not overheat especially in summer season.
Overheating of the intake system will make the air thin and result in poor ignition and low power, and detrimental to internal engine components.
It is then very important that you visit a Dodge shop where it could be fixed.
