Truck Repair: 305 or 350 in 1996 GMC 1500, gmc 1500, junk mail

I was hoping for some advice. Had the engine blow on my 1996 GMC 1500 4x4 that had a 305. I'm thinking about replacing with a 350, wondering about any changes (i.e. computer) that may need to be made and whether you think it is worthwhile. Thanks for the help!
