Truck Repair: valve adjustment, torque wrench, valve adjustment

Question
I have a 1971 4200 Transtar and I would like to know the gauge measurement for the gap intake and exaust valves? This engine I think is a 290 cummins with three heads 6 cylinder

Answer
Depending on which injectors you have...
For PT Inj(Spring protrudes past inj boby):You adjust valves & inj on same cyl.The mark A is 1-6,B is 2-5, & C is 3-4.Valves are Int 0.016 & Exhaust is 0.029.The injector you hand torque to 55-60 IN LBS.Adjust the Injector first, then the valves.
          On Top Stop injs...
       Mark         Valve                Inj
        C             1                   5
        A             5                   3
        B             3                   6
        C             6                   2
        A             2                   4
        B             4                   1
Lash   Int 0.011 Ex 0.023 Inj 5-6 inlbs (special "T" torque wrench)
