Truck Repair: clicking distributor, shaft position, chevy 1500

I have a 93 chevy 1500 2wd 350 5.7l that has a clicking sound under the distributor. It does not click all the time usually only in the morning but after diving a bit it goes away. It will click once in a while out of now where thru out the day. I can't figure it out...help

Might be enough clarance in the bushing to allow the rotor to touch the towers inside the cap until oil gets up there to maintain the shaft position.
Check the shaft by wiggling it when it is cold some morning, and see if there seems to be excessive side play.
