Truck Repair: 71 GMC, thier books, gm dealership

Question
Recently I aquired a 1971 GMC 3/4T 2WD truck with a factory 10' bed. The truck came with no motor, transmition, or driveshaft. We do know from the glovebox plate that it came with a 350 motor but all it says about trans. is turbo-hydromatic. It does take a 3 piece driveshaft. What we would like to know is would that have been short-shaft or long-shaft transmition and whether it would be a bolt-on or slide-in yoke on the driveshaft. Also would the motor mounts be positioned the same as say on my '77 GMC? If nothing else, could you tell me where to look for this info.? My local GM dealership can't find it because thier books and computers don't go back that far. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Answer
Hello Caroline,
A salvage yard, especially one specializing in GM vehicles would be a good place to get all those answers for that age vehicle.
One I know of in particular, is Beville Auto Salvage, in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Their phone number is 580-248-9440.
Good luck,
Van
