Vintage Cars: 1979 mercedes 450sl, shock towers, climate control

Question
I'm looking at a one owner with 43,000 miles. I'm about to get it checked by a mechanic-- what should I make sure they look for-- any known problems with the model and year that need special attention during inspection?

Answer
good car if it has had routine maintenace, check the usual - rust , especially in floor boards, trunk, shock towers

Check for Cam noise - known problem - ticking or clicking noise coming from under  cam cover- could indicate worn lobes, oiler malfunction ect

engine - should start without a fuss, even idle at 800 or so RPMS
Tranny - smooth but solid shifts
AC - cold?
Cruise - working?
check for vents open and closing - heat cool - some issues on this car with climate control

Good luck, let me know how else I can help
