Vintage Cars: servicing data, rotor arm, vacuum unit

Question
I am really struggling to find servicing data for my Mercedes, 1972 W115 220/8.
I have bought distibutor cap, rotor arm, and contact points but can't find what gap to set the points to???

I am also having trouble witht he car not runnign so sweet.  She runs ok cold on the auto choke but when warm if I try to accelerate she splutters until the revs increase then she is ok again.

I am chaning the points distributor etc but wonder if there could be a problem with the auto choke in the carb.

Can I disonnect this in anyway and still have the car running?

hope you can help

many thanks

Answer
I suspect you have a stromberg carb, the choke should nto be disconnected, it can be adjusted. Sputter on acceleration may be timing and dwell
timing should be 10 degrees BTDC at 950 rpms vacuum retard NOT connected. With the vacuum retard connected and vacuum applied your timing should drop to about 4 ATC. At 2400 +- rpm
make sure your dashpots are connected correctly to the carb/distributor
When the coolant is below 100 C (212 F), the ignition retard is in effect up to an engine speed of 2400 RPM. The switch-over of the timing from advanced to retard is accomplished by a 2-way valve (9), which breaks the vacuum connection to the vacuum unit on the dustributor".
Valves are .004 (intake) and .008 (exhaust)..... with variability of .002 being tolerable. And points dwell is set at 47-53 degrees,  measurement for gap -its about .028 - .032"
what color are you plug tips
I have rebuilt many 220's and lots of parts and specs
