Purchasing Utah Auto Insurance

All drivers must obtain Utah Auto Insurance coverage before they can legally drive on the roads in the state. This is the case regardless if they are just traveling one block or across the state. Insurance coverage is required by law.

If you are purchasing a new vehicle you must have auto insurance coverage before you can even drive it off of the dealer's lot. How can you already have coverage for a vehicle just as you purchase it?

There are a few ways for you to be able to ensure that this is done. If you have a friend or family member that has comprehensive insurance, they can drive the car home for you to be parked until you have purchased the required coverage. However, the easiest solution is that most large car dealerships today will help you to obtain auto insurance coverage right as you are purchasing the car.

State law requires that all drivers have proper insurance coverage before getting behind the wheel. If you are found to be driving without insurance you could be required to pay a fine or have points added to your license. Being caught more than once could result in loss of your license or even jail time.

Police are aided by various technologies today to be able to find those that are driving without insurance. There are databases available that allow them to scan in driver's license plate numbers and it will cross reference looking for any insurance coverage on that vehicle.

Even new drivers, such as teenagers, need to have insurance coverage before they are able to drive. They can be added to their parent's insurance policy to obtain coverage.

While you are obtaining your auto insurance policy, you will need to make sure that you have the required coverage mandated by the state of Utah. Also ask your insurance agent about any other types of coverage that are available to you for added protection.
