How to Shop eBay Used Car Sales

eBay used car sales are a great way to find some good deals on used cars. At eBay motors there are tons of cars listed from all different years and models. Here are some steps when looking to buy a used car on eBay.

Do Your Research
Doing research is important when buying a used car. Use a site like CarsDirect to gain some knowledge on the used car you're looking for. Finding a reliable car is important when looking for a used vehicle. Find out the common repairs and costs of ownership. A used car may have a nice price, but if it is bound to break down, it may be a poor choice. Know as much as you can, because you won't have the opportunity to see the car in person before you start the bidding process.

Go to eBay Motors
eBay has thousands of cars listed by either private sellers or certified dealers. Many dealerships put their entire used car inventory on eBay because of the low cost. eBay lets them list for a few dollars and they only pay a successful listing fee when the car sells. They also have classified ads where you can lease the car, or submit monthly payments to the dealership.

Find the Car You're Looking For
If you already know the make and model you want, just type that into the search bar. If you are unsure, you can use their drop down box feature. You can search by the make of the car, and then specify it into the model. For example, you can choose BMW, and then only show the X series cars instead of all of the 3, 5 or 7 series versions. Then you enter your zip code to show your local listings.

If you don't know what brand you want, but know what type of car you want (i.e. SUV, convertible, sedan, etc), then you can also search this way. Right on the page you can select a group of cars that fit that bill.

Get Specific
On the left side of the page, there are many options shown such as Year, Price, Dealer type, etc. Check the boxes for your choices. For example, you can choose to show only listings that are from dealers, or only by condition or only by mileage. You can also select multiple options at once.

Review the Listings
Every listing has a free car history report. There will be all the details and pictures of the car. Sort through the listings until you find the car that you want to bid on.

Place Your Bid
Enter your highest bid and the site will start the bidding process. If you are outbid, and you are willing to pay a higher price, you can always up your bid before time runs out. At the end of the auction deadline, if you have the highest bid, the car is yours. Arrange with the seller to make your payment and take delivery of the car.
