Just as when you buy a car you have a contract, a motorcycle should come with a purchase contract that lists important information about the vehicle and terms of sale. Common elements include the make and model of the bike, its condition, and any applicable warranties.
Every motorcycle purchase contract should include the following information about the vehicle: its make, model, year, engine number, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), and Vehicle Registration Number (VRN). If the seller is unwilling to provide this information, you may want to considering declining the purchase.
It is common to list the condition of the motorcycle in the purchase contract if it is being sold as "used," and has any scratches, dings, or unreliable parts. If the bike is being sold as "new," however, that is likely to be the only description of its condition in the contract.
If you are buying a new motorcycle, the contract will often state whether or not it comes with a warranty. The length of the warranty should be in the contract as well as any additional cost to purchase it. Other details of the warranty may come in a separate document.
