The Recalls on 2005 F-150 Ford Pickup Trucks

The Ford F-150 is an industry class leader for steering and driving, according to Edmunds.com, a leading car review website. However, the Ford F-150 has gone through a series of recalls since its introduction. These recalls are important to address at the nearest Ford service center immediately.

Recall ID# 85028 - May 7, 2008

  • Ford recalled 605,684 vehicles, including the F-150 equipped with 5.4-liter three-valve engines. The issue was a brake booster vacuum supply that can swell and lose functionality over time. A driver will retain control of the brakes but have to use excessive pressure on the brake pedal. Dealer remedy is to replace the rubber hose on the brake booster vacuum.

Recall ID# 49156 - Aug. 28, 2007

  • This recall involves incorrect wiring on aftermarket adapters sold by distributors for RV trailers. As a result, the trailer brake lights may not work properly. This recall only affected about 175 units because most adapters failed to enter the consumer market as the fault was recognized prior to mass production.

Recall ID# 26425 - June 13, 2006

  • A total of 58,640 Ford F-150s were recalled because aftermarket Purolator fuel filters (part # F65277) were found to be incorrectly designed. Fuel spillage occurred as a result and a fire was possible. Dealers will replace the fuel filters free of charge.

Recall ID# 56405 - March 13, 2006

  • One of Ford's biggest recalls on the F-150 was for 211,432 with a software error that put them in violation of federal motor vehicle safety standards. The error was found in the instrument cluster, disabling the anti-lock brake warning light. Dealers will recalibrate the instrument cluster.

Recall ID# 37495 - Nov. 21, 2005

  • Continental Contitrac TR Owl, Contitrac TR BSW, General Grabber TR BSW, and Contitrac BSW tires on original Ford F-150s wore prematurely and could cause a blowout. Tires were replaced for free on 34,396 vehicles.
