  • Both the Chevy and the Buick earned a five-star rating for frontal crashes from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Impala also earned a five-star rating for side front seat crashes to the Buick's four stars.

Engine and Transmission

  • The engine options are the same for both the Impala and the Lucerne are the same: a 211-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 (flexible; E85), a 211-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 (regular gas) and a 233-horsepower 3.9-liter V-6 (flexible; E85). Only one transmission option is available for both cars, a four-speed automatic with overdrive.

  • The Buick features a rear parking assist feature that sounds an alert to aid drivers in parallel parking or backing up.

  • Both vehicles feature the General Motors 100,000 mile/five-year powertrain limited warranty. The vehicles are also covered by a roadside assistance program and a courtesy vehicle program during the same time/mileage period.
