BMW: 328 Vs. 330

BMW, combining both sporty and classy characteristics in to each of their models, has been producing some of the world's favorite cars for decades. They have been known to be a reliable car company that produces fine machines for a reasonable price. Many people may say that the cars are overpriced, but in essence you are only going to get what you are willing pay for.

Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP)

  • As of 2009, the 328i is listed at a starting price of $33,600 MSRP, and the 330i is listed at a starting price of $36,600. Both cars have their advantages, and the price difference is present because of variations between the two models.

Engine

  • Both models are equipped standard with a 3.0L inline 6-cylinder engine. The 328i engine is equipped with an electronically controlled water pump, which helps augment power output. To decrease the burden of the engine, BMW has used a pioneering modernization that has never been used before--an engine block made of a lightweight compound of magnesium/aluminum.

Horsepower

  • The 330i offers 255 horsepower, but the 328i maxes out at around 230 horses at around 2,750 RPM.

Active Steering

  • The 2009 328i features active steering technology, which allows for a variable steering ratio depending on your speed in order to increase stability. At high speeds, the steering wheel needs to be turned more in order to turn the wheels the same amount and at low speeds, steering is dexterous for easy mobility in tight spaces.

Fuel Efficiency

  • The 330i is given 20 city and 30 highway MPG, and the manual 328i is given 18 city and 28 highway MPG.

Safety Overview

  • Both vehicles are equipped with an enhanced Antilock Brake System (ABS). The 328i also comes standard with BMW's Bluetooth Assist Service, which will be notified if any crash sensors on the car are activated. Both the 330 and 328 come with standard security systems.
