How to Lease a Honda CRV

You must use a Honda dealer to lease a CRV. Leasing specials, which change monthly, are available for your review at Honda's website. Honda Financial, Honda's leasing bank, offers a 36 month lease, although money down, advertised trim levels and mileage requirements change at the beginning of each month. Conveniently, Honda includes a standard bumper-to-bumper warranty on all new cars for 36,000 miles or 36 months, whichever comes first. You'll only have to take care of maintenance items during the lease.

  • Go to Honda's website to review monthly specials and learn more about the CRV. From the home page, choose the CRV from the vehicle lineup at the bottom of the page. Click "Current Offers" to survey the month's specials. Select "Find a Dealer" at the top of the results page to find dealers in your area.

  • Call your local dealership to arrange an appointment or arrive during business hours. Tell your sales representative that you intend to lease the CRV. Let your salesperson know if you've already decided on the trim level and the options that you want, or discuss your needs in detail so that your salesperson can help you choose the right CRV.

  • Test drive the exact CRV that you intend to lease. Ask your salesperson to go over all vehicle features and options before you drive. Confirm the particular CRV is satisfactory and tell your salesperson you are ready to continue.

  • Have the salesperson run your leasing figures if you have chose a CRV different than the one advertised for leasing. You can also change your yearly mileage allowance and money down. Agree on the leasing terms and figures for the CRV you want to lease.

  • Fill out the credit application for Honda Financial with your salesperson. Supply your name, address, length of time at address, rental or mortgage payment, date of birth, Social Security number, employer information and your gross annual income.

  • Wait for the lease approval from Honda Financial, which takes less than an hour. Make an appointment to come back to pick up your CRV, or, if the dealer allows, drive it home the same day. Provide proof of full-coverage insurance for the CRV--the salesperson can handle this with your authorization.

  • Sign all of your leasing and Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) paperwork in the finance office--the dealer handles all DMV processes as required by your state. Review the paperwork in full and ask questions, if necessary. Once your paperwork is complete, you can leave in your new CRV.
