How to Get an MVR From Georgia

You can order your motor vehicle report, or MVR, from the Georgia Department of Driver Services online, in person or by mail. The DSS offers both certified and uncertified copies. Certified MVRs bear an official DSS stamp and are commonly used for employment and insurance purposes. The fee for a three-year driving history is $6 as of 2015. A seven-year MVR costs $8.

Order MVR Online

  • To order your MRV online, create an online account with DSS. On the "Create User Account" page of the DSS's website, you must provide your Social Security number, date of birth, first and last name, and Georgia driver's license or state identification number, issue date and class. After your online account is established, enter the user ID and password you created. Choose either a non-certified copy of your driving record or a certified copy. Only the uncertified copy is available for immediate viewing online, for up to 30 days. Certified copies are not. DDS will mail your certified MVR within seven days of your order date.

Order MVR in Person

  • Order your MVR in person at any DDS customer service center. Submit a completed Form DDS-18, Request for Motor Vehicle Report, and pay the required fee. You can download the request form from the DDS's website if you would like to complete it beforehand.

Order MVR by Mail

  • Order your MVR by postal mail by sending a letter to the Georgia Department of Driver Services, MVR Request, Post Office Box 80447, Conyers, Georgia 30013. The letter must include your name as it appears on your driver's license, mailing address, driver's license number and date of birth. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope and fee. You can send a completed DDS-18 instead of a letter.
