How to Sync My Car Applications

The Sync system is in GM cars like Ford, Lincoln and Mercury. GM and Microsoft collaborated to provide Bluetooth capabilities with your cell phone or handheld device. With Sync, you can make hands-free calls and audio integration. If you have a GPS system, you can use Sync to download maps to your cell phone. You can even connect your iPod, MP3 player or another music device to your Sync's USB port. With Bluetooth capabilities, you can synchronize your car's applications with your cell phone.

  • Put your vehicle in "park," but leave the engine on. Sync will not set up when your vehicle is in motion.

  • Press the "MENU" button on your cell phone. Navigate to "Bluetooth" and select "Add a device." Select your car's model from the list of Bluetooth-enabled devices. Click the "OK" button to confirm your choice.

  • Press the "Phone" button on your car's radio. Press "Seek" or "Track" button until you see the "Add Bluetooth Device" displayed on the screen. Press the "OK" button.

  • Wait for the voice to prompt you on the Sync system. Search for your cell phone on the Sync system. Choose "Find" or "Search for Connection." Refer to your manual if you have trouble finding your phone.

  • Enter the PIN displayed on the Sync screen. Wait for the Sync system to say, "Device Connected."

  • Locate your car's Sync system on your cell phone. It should be located under the Bluetooth menu. Select which applications you want to use on your cell phone.
