How to Reinstate Your Revoked Driver's License in Tennessee

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security allows you to reinstate your Tennessee license in person at a reinstatement center, by mail, over the phone and online. Before you can do so, however, you must first determine what is required to reinstate your license by contacting TDSHS.

Online

  • To reinstate your license online, enter your last name, birthdate, last four digits of your Social Security number, and Tennessee driver's license or identification number. Next, click on the "Log In" button. On the next page, select the "Restore your Driving Privileges" option. If you're required to pay a reinstatement fee, you can pay it here as well.

By Phone

  • Call the Reinstatement Call Center at (866) 903-7357 to reinstate your license by phone. You can speak with a customer service representative Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Central Standard Time. You also can use the automated system at any time of the day to get the requirements for reinstating your license, as long as you know your driver's license number.

In Person

  • Visit a Driver License Reinstatement Center weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. CST to reinstate your license in person. A list of locations is available online. Reinstatement centers may stop taking reinstatement requests as early as 2:30 p.m., so arrive early. Prior to going, contact the Reinstatement Call Center to determine what is required to reinstate your license.

By Mail

  • To request reinstatement by mail, send a letter with your name, address, birthdate, Social Security number, phone number, license number, and reason your license was canceled to the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security. If sending by regular mail, address to TDSHS, Financial Responsibility, P.O. Box 945, Nashville, TN 37202. Address expedited and overnight deliveries to TDSHS, Financial Responsibility, 1150 Foster Avenue, Nashville, TN 37210. If a reinstatement fee is required, include this with your letter.
