What Listed Expenses Can You Claim if You Get into a Car Accident?

Under the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule there are various categories of listed expenses that you can claim if you get into a car accident:
Rehabilitation & Treatments, Medical: These expenses pertain to costs associated with prescriptions, chiropractor, massage, physiotherapy, exercise plans, and other therapy used to manage your condition post-accident.

Attendant Care: Services that are provided by an aide to assist with everyday living tasks that the injured person cannot perform his or herself, as a result of the accident.

Housekeeping: Expenses incurred as a result of requiring assistance with home maintenance

Visitor’s Expenses: Listed expenses include the costs incurred by the immediate family of the injured person(s), such as transportation to hospital, parking and food while visiting, and so on.

Income Replacement or Non-erner Benefits: Should your injuries from your accident affect your income, there are options for recovering lost income as an expense.

Caregiver Benefits: If you are unable to care for someone under your guardianship, costs accumulating from your inability to care for those in your care (i.e. minors) are covered under listed expenses.

Death & Funeral: Funeral expenses can be claimed up to $6,000 to the individual’s family who has died as a result of the accident. There is also a death benefit paid out to the spouse and/or children.

Damage to Property: This area of coverage compensates the injured person(s) for damage to clothing, glasses, hearing aids, and other reasonable expenses.

Lost Education: You may receive up to $15,000 if you are unable to continue your school program that you were enrolled din at the time of the accident. These expenses can be for books, tuition, equipment or room and board.

Other Expenses: Other listed Expenses includes reasonable costs of examinations and assessments, and costs associated with obtaining a disability certificate
