On August 29 in Iowa County, Wisconsin, a rural Dodgeville woman died from injuries she sustained in a car accident. The 78-year-old passed away that friday after the 2007 Toyota Avalon, which was driven by her 81-year-old husband, collided with another vehicle. A 2004 Chrysler Pacific drove through a stop sign as the vehicle was oncoming.

The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department reports that the accident happened at the intersection of County Z and Section Line Road in the town of Dodgeville.

In another recent accident, a New York City a taxi collided with an SUV on Thursday, September 5. The crash happened at 42nd street and 1st Avenue and resulted in damage to some scaffolding which had been erected in the area.

There were four people who were seriously injured in the unexpected and devastating crash. Three of the injured individuals were in the vehicles that were involved in the accident, but one of the injured persons was a nearby pedestrian.

It is not clear what exactly was the cause of the accident, but apparently after the taxi struck the SUV, the SUV drove up onto the curb where it struck the pedestrian and the scaffolding, which then collapsed. Large portions of the scaffolding then fell down onto the SUV.

Just several weeks before this accident, anther New York City taxicab accident happened. That accident left one woman very seriously injured. The taxi had jumped a curb near Rockefeller Center in Midtown, Manhattan and hit a woman who had been walking nearby. Her leg was severed in the crash.

The cab driver told police that he swerved to avoid hitting a bicyclist.

In this accident there were apparently others who were struck by the taxi and the two other victims could have been injured as well. But their condition has not been made public.

The seriously injured woman was a 23-year-old British tourist. A plumber who was in the area saw the crash and immediately rushed to help the woman. He made a tourniquet for the woman’s leg, which was bleeding profusely, out of a belt. Celebrity doctor, Doctor Oz, was also on hand to help and he praised the plumber’s quick thinking.
