Safely Stopping on the Highway to Avoid Accidents

Everyone has car problems at some point, so read these tips to make sure if you need to pullover that you know how to do so safely.
Here are the steps to take if you need to pull off the highway for car repairs:

1. Turn on your blinkers and emergency lights. Make sure other drivers see you. Your hazards lights will alert everyone that you are having problems and need space.
2. Exit your car from the passenger side so you don't get hit while getting out.
3. Have an emergency kit and use it. Put out cones and/or a sign so that people steer clear of your car, and make sure you have the tools for common car repairs like a flat tire. If working at night, try to use flares.
4. Pull back out onto the highway safely, making sure you leave plenty of room to get up to the speed of the other cars. Also put your turn signal on so people understand your intention.
