If you’ve ever wanted to live close to the city but couldn’t afford the rent, this article is for you. Eddie and Lacey dreamed of living close to Austin, Texas. But high home prices kept them from realizing their dream.
As a real estate agent Eddie knew just how hard it was to find an affordable property in Austin. He also knew there was a growing trend called the “Tiny House RV.”
The tiny house movement fascinated Eddie and Lacey. So much so, that after a few months of research they decided to build their own mini house on wheels. Why not?
A tiny house RV allows people to create their own dream house (a very tiny dream house). Eddie purchased building plans from the Tumbleweed Tiny House Company, attended a workshop, and set out to build his own tiny house. At first he was overwhelmed, but halfway through the project Eddie and Lacey attend to another workshop together that brought the project together. Suddenly they were excited and ready to make their dream a reality.
One of the challenges tiny house owners face it finding a place to park it. Eddie and Lacey solved this problem by renting a space at an RV park just outside Austin for their new home. They pay $350 a month, including water, garbage, electric and WiFi.
Lacey is very organized, which has played an integral role in making the tiny house lifestyle work for their family. She regularly discards items that take up space. Each item must prove its worth if it’s going to live with them.
Although the couple decided to build a mobile tiny house RV, that didn’t mean they wanted to scrimp on the interior. In fact, Lacey chose beautiful dark wood floors and white wainscoting to help the space feel bigger.
Eddie installed a ductless Klimaire 9,000 BTU mini Split for both air conditioning and heat. It works wonders and keeps the little space the perfect temperature day or night. The floor plan also included a large loft area which has proved perfect for sleeping or just hanging out.
After building a tiny house, the couple offers a few words of advice for other would be tiny house builders.
