How to Greet a New Customer to the Dealership

There is a great deal of information that suggests that people form their preliminary opinion of you in a matter of seconds. This does not give you a very good chance at making an impression.   • Be aware of your appearance. Your shirt should be tucked in, clothes clean and no food in your teeth. The customers want someone who is detailed oriented. Show them that you are.

  • Welcome them warmly. You may be having a very bad day and all you want to do is go home, but you cannot carry your previous disappointments into your dealings with your next customer.   • Do all you can to help them relax. Customers are usually scared to death when they walk onto your lot. Make some small talk when you greet new customers. Show the customers that you are interested in them. Let them know how you can help them find their next car.
