Whether you own a Ford F-150, 250 or 350, your truck is only as tough as its most important parts. If you drive your truck through hard conditions, you should probably replace the manufacturer's stock brake line with more durable stainless steel ones.
Raise and secure the truck, making sure your jack stands can support your size Ford. Remove the appropriate wheel, raise the hood and find where the brake lines run from the master cylinder to the brakes.
Look over the whole brake line. Pay attention to how it's bent and coiled in multiple places. Bend the replacement line in the same way to reduce strain on the line.
Remove the brake line by disconnecting both bolts at each connector with two flare nut or line wrenches. Plug the holes left in the line with a non-absorbent material like rubber.
Install the new line by connecting each new pipe. Attach the bolts to each connector by hand, then tighten them with the wrenches.
Bleed the brake system. Connect the opened bleeder valve on the caliper to a container of brake fluid with a vinyl tube. Have another person press on the brake pedal to remove the air.
Attach the wheel and lower the truck. Repeat for the other ends of the truck as needed. Top off the master cylinder with fluid and test the brakes after completion.
