How to Repair the Window in a 2003 Buick Rendezvous

A broken window in your 2003 Buick Rendezvous can be a headache for any car owner. Not only does it affect the overall look of your vehicle but it can also reduce visibility and put your vehicle at risk of further damage or theft. Replacing the damaged window is a fairly simply process and does not differ considerably between vehicles. You can pick up the the tools you need for the job from your local auto store.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Replacement window
  • Wrench set
  • Open up the Buick door which contains the damaged window. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry off any plastic covers with conceal the door panel screws. Remove the screws from the door panel using a phillips-head screwdriver. Pull the panel away from the door.

  • Remove the screws which fix the door handle in place. Pull the door handle off the door. Unhook the linkage arm behind the door handle and remove the rest of the door handle assembly. Use a wrench to remove the mounting bolts attached to the backing plate. Remove the plate to gain access to the window regulator.

  • Move the regulator to its lowest point within the access panel. Use a hex wrench to remove the hex bolts which connect the regulator to the window.

  • Lift the damaged window out of the door's window frame. Take care not to damage the door or your hands as you remove the pane.

  • Slide a new window pane in to the door frame. Fix it in place by attaching the hex bolts between the window and the window regulator. Reattach the door assembly by following the removal steps in reverse.
