How to Package & Ship a Windshield

Getting a windshield from point "A" to point "B" in one piece can be moderately challenging. Allowing a giant slab of glass to be transported by a courier can be risky if not packaged correctly.

Things You'll Need

  • Small Bubble Wrap
  • Tape
  • Scrap Cardboard
  • Large Bubble Wrap
  • Large Box
  • Packaging Peanuts
  • Wrap two layers of the small bubble wrap around the windshield. Tape all of the seams so the bubble wrap fits snug and is covering every inch of glass

  • Shape the scrap cardboard around the perimeter of the windshield. Tape it securely around the edges to prevent any shifting or movement.

  • Wrap two layers of the large bubble around the windshield. Tape the seams tightly.

  • Fill the bottom of the box with two inches of packaging peanuts. Fill any voids between the windshield and the insides of the box with more packaging peanuts. Add another two inches of peanuts on top of the windshield.

  • Take the package to your local shipping vendor. Common services include UPS hub or store, FedEx hub or FedEx Kinko's. Once you give them the shipping information they will print a label and your shipment will be on its way.
