Buick Park Ave Ignition Coil Information

The Buick Park Avenue is powered by a 3.8-liter, V-6 engine, which produces 205 horsepower at 5,200 rpm. The engine makes use of a distributor-less ignition system and delivers spark using a series of coil packs.

Location

  • The Park Avenue's ignition coil system is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment, near the front. It is easily identified by the six spark plug wires running into it.

Design

  • The Park Avenue's coil system consists of two main parts, the ignition control module and ignition coils. There are three ignition coils bolted to the control module and each coil delivers spark to two cylinders.

Removal

  • The ignition coils are simple to remove. Simply remove the spark plug wires, remove the two bolts securing each coil to the ignition control module and pull the coils from the module.

Installation

  • To install, place the coils back on the ignition control module, tighten the screws and plug the spark plug wires in. Make certain to tighten the coils to 40 inch-pounds of torque.
