How to Remove Climate Controls in a 4Runner

The climate controls on a Toyota 4Runner open and close the various vent controls in the SUV's heating and air conditioning system. The control panel is comprised of mostly electronic components, and when the controls start to fail, then the interior heating and cooling system won't function properly. To fix the problem, you first have to remove the climate control panel from the dashboard so you can replace it with a new one.

Things You'll Need

  • Nylon pry bar
  • Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Insert the nylon pry bar between the center console of the 4Runner and the black plastic panel that mounts around the emergency brake handle. Pry up the panel and take the panel away from the interior.
