The factory painted bumper on your vehicle is likely to fade if you own it long enough. That's especially true of the top of the bumper, which is flat and has the most exposure to the sun. The sun's UV rays dry out car paint, leaving it faded and dull. This makes the top of the bumper a different color than the rest of the car. Faded paint on a bumper can be repaired to look new and bright again using materials found at an automotive parts store.
Wash the bumper with car wash soap and a sponge. Clean the bumper thoroughly so all dirt, mud and debris is removed. Rinse it clean and let it dry completely.
Apply 1/4 cup of liquid buffing compound to the pad on the buffer. Buff the faded area of the bumper, moving the buffer in small circular motions while keeping it moving along the surface. Don't let the buffer sit in one spot for more than 3 seconds or it might burn through the paint.
Use a cotton towel and a small amount of liquid buffing compound to buff the areas the buffer can't reach. Use your hand to work the compound into the bumper in small circular motions.
Wipe the bumper with a clean cotton towel to remove any lasting haze from the buffing compound. Apply a small amount of car polish to a clean towel and polish the entire bumper, moving your hand in circular motions. Use a clean try towel to wipe off any remaining polish.
