How to Remove an Impreza Bumper

Bumpers made of plastic are easily damaged and often need to be replaced with a new one. If yours is not damaged, you may want to enhance the look of it by installing an after market bumper kit. Removing the bumper from your Impreza is not as hard as it may first seem. Learn how to remove an Impreza bumper on your own and save the money a shop would charge you to remove it.

Things You'll Need

  • Ratchet
  • 8mm socket
  • Philips screwdriver

Front Impreza Bumper

  • Open the hood and look along the very front of the car. There is a row of six small bolts holding the front bumper onto the car. Remove these bolts with an 8mm socket and ratchet.

  • Look under the front of the Impreza and locate the 8mm bolts that are all along the bottom edge of the bumper. Starting at one side just in front of the tire, remove all these bolts until you reach the other side. There are a total of 10 bolts.

  • Position yourself next to the wheel on the side of the car and look directly in front of the wheel. There are three Philips screws along the edge of the end of the bumper cover. Remove these and pull the bumper cover off.

Rear Impreza Bumper

  • Sit next to the rear wheel and look directly behind it. Remove the four Philips screws along the edge of the rear bumper. Repeat on both sides of the car.

  • Look under the rear of the Impreza near the end of each side of the bumper. There are two 8mm bolts on each side. Remove these bolts.

  • Open the trunk of the car and remove the four 8mm bolts along the rear edge of the trunk.
