How to Install an In-Dash CD Player in a Mazda Tribute

The factory-installed radio and CD player in a Mazda Tribute is positioned in the middle of the dashboard. You may remove the original equipment and install a CD player of your own choosing. The process is fairly easy and painless. It should take you only about 15 minutes to remove the existing radio and CD player and install a replacement.

Things You'll Need

  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Use a flathead screwdriver to pry off the trim panel in front of the radio. It is held in by four plastic tabs.

  • Remove the four screws securing the radio and CD player in place.

  • Slide the radio toward you and disconnect its wiring harness, located at the rear of the radio. Remove it from the Tribute.

  • Connect the wiring harness to the new CD player and slide it into the space. Reattach the screws.

  • Snap the plastic trim panel back into place over the radio.
