How to Replace the Console Latch on a 200 GMC Truck

The console latch on your GMC 200 truck helps keep the central console's storage bin closed. If the latch breaks, the bin will not close properly. Although the console latch is not necessary for operating your truck, replacing it will make for a more comfortable ride. The latch is secured by two screws. Once you remove the screws, you can remove the broken latch and install a new one.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Park the truck and turn off the engine.

  • Remove the two screws securing the latch to the console.

  • Remove the latch from the console and replace it with a new latch. Make sure the new latch fits into the indentation on the console.

  • Reattach the two screws to secure the console latch.
