The blower motor on your 1991 Chevy is what allows the cool or warm air to flow into the interior of your vehicle. If the blower motor goes out, you will be unable to operate your AC unit properly. Replacing the blower motor on your 1991 Chevy vehicle is a simple process that should take no more than an hour to complete. The motor is underneath the dashboard, so you will need to partially remove the dash to access it.
Open the Chevy's hood and disconnect the negative cable from the battery, using a socket wrench.
Open the glove box and empty it out. Remove the securing screws at the back of the glove box and pull the glove box out.
Remove the screws on the right-side door plate with a Philips screwdriver. Pry off the trim panel from the right-hinge pillar with a slotted screwdriver.
Remove the bolt on the right-side panel of the dashboard. Pry off the dashboard as far as you can, but be careful not to crack or break the plastic. This will reveal the blower motor under the middle of the dashboard, below the radio.
Detach the electrical connection from the rear of the blower motor. Remove the bolt from the lower right-side instrument panel support to give yourself more room to work.
Remove the blower cover and its cooling tube by pulling it off. Remove the large screws securing the blower motor and pull it out.
Install the replacement blower motor and secure it by reinstalling the four large screws. Reattach the cooling tube and the blower cover.
Reattach the bolt to the right-side lower instrument panel. Reattach the electrical connection to the rear of the blower motor.
Push down on the dashboard to secure it to the vehicle. Reinstall the right-side panel bolt.
Reattach the two screws to the right-side door plate. Reattach the right-hinge pillar trim panel.
Reattach the glove box and reconnect the vehicle's battery. Close the hood.
