A convenient feature on all 2002 Hyundai Sonata's is keyless entry. Each 2002 Sonata comes standard with a remote control for keyless entry, which allows you, the driver, to control the door locks and trunk release on your car from a short distance. Your Sonata comes standard with two keyless remote fobs when you purchase the vehicle, but if you happen to lose one or need an additional copy for another driver you'll have to order a key and program it to work with your specific 2002 Sonata.
Enter your 2002 Hyundai Sonata from the driver's seat and shut the door once you are settled.
Put the new key for your 2002 Sonata into the ignition and turn the key until it is one click away from the "Start" position.
Push and hold down the "Unlock" -- or "Open" -- button on your new key's remote. Hold down the button until the interior lights on your Sonata's dash blink. This means your new key is fully programmed.
Turn the key to the "Off" position and remove it from the Sonata's ignition. Step out of your Sonata and test your remote control.
