You could replace the entire mirror assembly when the mirror lens becomes cracked on your Volkswagen Golf or you could repair the mirror by replacing the mirror lens. Repairing the lens is actually quicker and more cost effective as the process of repairing the mirror does not require you to remove the mirror from the vehicle. This means you can replace the lens with no tools and you can do it within a few minutes' times.
Push the right side of the driver's mirror into the mirror housing. If replacing the passenger side mirror on your Golf, push the left side of the mirror into the housing. This forces the opposite end of the mirror to sit outside of the housing so you can grab it.
Grab the mirror lens and pull outward on it until the lens pops out of the housing.
Place the new mirror lens into the housing. The tight tolerance of the mirror housing to the mirror lens forces the lens to line up with the mounting brackets inside the housing.
Push on the face of the mirror until you feel the lens snap onto the mounts inside the housing.
