Most vehicles do not need any fuel-injection maintenance until after they have surpassed the 75,000 mile threshold. After that point, your throttle body needs to be cleaned. After performing this maintenance, you'll notice improved engine performance. Follow these steps to clean your F-150's throttle body.
Lift the hood of the truck. Locate the throttle body, which is located in the engine compartment. You can identify the throttle body by the intake tubing that runs out of the front of it.
Use a screwdriver to remove the intake tubing from the throttle body.
Open the throttle body by pushing on the butterfly valve that is located on the side of the throttle body. Once the throttle body is open, spray it with the cleaner. Wait for the spray to dry before closing the throttle body.
Re-attach the intake tubing to the throttle body and close the hood of the truck.
