How do I Fix the Blinkers on My Dodge Truck?

Driving with faulty blinkers on your Dodge truck is dangerous. Not only can it lead to an accident, but you may be issued a ticket from the local authorities. If a blinker is not working on your Dodge truck, there could be three possible issues: the wiring is loose, the bulb is burned out or a fuse has popped. These instructions are for Dodge trucks produced between the years 2002 and 2008.

Things You'll Need

  • Clean gloves
  • Socket wrench
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Replacement bulb
  • Fuse puller
  • Replacement fuse

Front Blinkers

  • Turn off the engine and put on the gloves. Remove the fastener from the headlight welt. Use the socket wrench remove the three bolts from the headlight housing.

  • Pull the headlight housing out of the vehicle and pull on the electrical connector. If it comes out, securely plug it into the rear of the housing.

  • Rotate the turn signal bulb counterclockwise to remove it from the housing. Install a replacement 3157NAK bulb and rotate it clockwise to secure. Place the headlight housing back into the vehicle and reattach the three bolts and fastener. If the front blinkers are still malfunctioning, a broken fuse may be the problem.

  • Open the hood. On the driver's side is the fuse relay center. Remove the cover from the fuse relay center. On the underside of the fuse cover are explanations of which fuse is which. Locate the front turn signal fuse and check to see if it is broken. If the metal inside the fuse is broken, it will need to be replaced.

  • Use the fuse puller to remove the broken fuse and replace it with a new, identical fuse. Place the cover back onto the fuse relay and close the hood.

Rear Blinkers

  • Turn off the engine and put on the gloves. Remove the two screws that pass through the bed's sheet metal using a screwdriver.

  • Pull the housing out of the vehicle and pull on the electrical connector. If it comes out, securely plug it into the rear of the housing.

  • Remove the four retaining screws from the bulb strip in the housing. Pull the top bulb and replace it with a new 3057 bulb. Reattach the four retaining screws and place the housing back into the vehicle. Reinstall the two screws to secure it. If the rear blinkers are still malfunctioning, a broken fuse may be the problem.
