How to Disable a Chevy Tahoe Dome Light

Disabling the dome light in a Chevrolet Tahoe requires pulling the dome light fuse from the interior fuse panel. Pulling this fuse opens the circuit and stops the flow of electricity to the dome light, disabling it until the fuse is replaced. The interior fuse panel is located between the driver's side door and the dashboard. The fuse block is mounted underneath this access panel on the side of the dashboard. The driver's side door must be open in order to access this panel.

  • Shift the Tahoe's transmission into park and turn off the engine. Set the parking brake and open the driver's side door.

  • Locate the fuse panel on the left side of the dashboard. Depress the locking tab on the fuse panel cover and remove it to expose the fuse block.

  • Read the diagram on the underside of the fuse panel cover to determine the location of the dome light fuse within the fuse block.

  • Remove the dome light fuse and replace the fuse panel cover. Verify that the dome light does not illuminate.
