How to Install a Driver's Side Mirror on a Chevy Suburban

If you need to replace the driver's side mirror on the Chevy Suburban, you'll be happy to know that the job can be done fairly easily and does not require any tools. The mirror basically pops in and out, so you don't even need to replace the mirror housing. The entire process should not take you more than a few minutes.

  • Push the right side of the mirror lens into the mirror housing with your hand. This moves the left side of the mirror lens outside of the housing, since the mirror pivots on the motor located on the back of the mirror.

  • Grasp the left side of the mirror with your hand and pull out on it. There is a long metal tab on the back of the mirror that pushes inside a slot in the mirror motor. As you pull on the mirror lens, it pulls the metal tab out of the motor.

  • Place the long metal tab of the replacement mirror lens into the slot on the mirror motor. Push on the face of the mirror to seat it inside the housing. The metal tab holds the mirror in place.
