Ford parts numbers are generally 10-digits long and divided into three sections. It will be a combination of letters and numbers, each with a specific designation purpose. Ford casting numbers for the block, cylinder heads and intake manifold are similar, but normally only contain the specific date of manufacture and vehicle model designation.
Ford part numbers begin with 4 digits indicating the date of manufacture and car model the part is intended for. C5ZZ translates as being manufactured in 1965, "C" is the decade ("B" for the 1950s, "C" for the 1960s, etc.) and the next number is the decade year. The following letter is the model designation, in this case, a Mustang. The last letter is an engineering department designation.
