How to Cancel the Seat Belt Chime on a Subaru Tribeca

The Tribeca is the largest vehicle that Subaru offers. Made for larger families, the Tribeca has third row seating in addition to all the standard Subaru features. One safety feature on the Tribeca is a seat belt chime that alerts you to an unbuckled driver's seat belt when the car is on. Many drivers find this chime annoying but don't know how to turn it off.

  • Climb into the driver's seat of your Subaru Tribeca and close the door.

  • Insert your key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position. Do not start the car or simply leave it in the "Accessory" position; it must be "On."

  • Buckle and then unbuckle your seat belt 20 times within 30 seconds after you turn the ignition to "On."

  • Turn the car "Off" and remove the key. Your seat belt chime should now be canceled.
