How to Program a Ford Expedition Remote

Remote fobs for the Ford Expedition, remote-entry system allow you to lock and unlock the Expedition from a distance of up to 30 feet with just the push of a button. The Expedition allows for the programming of up to five remote fobs. If you want to add a new fob, or need to reprogram an old one after changing the battery, you'll find the procedure quick and easy. You must have all the fobs with you when programming.

Things You'll Need

  • Ignition key
  • Sit in the driver's seat and insert the ignition key into the ignition. Have the fob, or fobs, you wish to program within easy reach. Hold the first fob in your left hand and grab the ignition key with your right.

  • Push the door lock button on the driver door, master-lock switch to activate the lock system.

  • Turn the ignition key to the run position and back to the off position seven times, ending in the run position. If done properly, the door locks will all cycle up and down. If this does not happen, remove the key, reinsert it and repeat the cycling pattern until the locks cycle.

  • Hit the lock or unlock button on the first fob you wish to program. The door locks will respond to the remote fob command. Repeat on each subsequent remote fob until you've programmed every fob you have.

  • Turn the ignition key back to the off position and remove it from the ignition tumbler to complete the process and then take the lock system out of program mode. Double check each fob to ensure they all work.
