How to Install a Bank One O2 Sensor on a V6 Accord

The bank 1 O2 sensor on a V6 Accord is located on the exhaust manifold. If the sensor is not working properly, you can diagnose the problem using a diagnostic scan tool, or have an auto-parts store give you a free diagnostic scan. A fault code of P0135 will indicate a failure of the bank 1 sensor. Replacement sensors can be purchased from most auto-parts stores.

Things You'll Need

  • Replacement O2 sensor
  • Socket wrench
  • Socket set
  • O2 sensor socket
  • Open the hood of your V-6 Accord and remove the three bolts holding the heat shield in place on the front of the engine, using a socket wrench.

  • Pull the heat shield off the front of the engine. Underneath is the exhaust manifold.

  • Unplug the electrical connector running to the O2 sensor. Push down on the small plastic release tab on the connector and pull the connector apart (the connector is two parts with half connected to the factory harness and half running to the O2 sensor).

  • Unbolt the O2 sensor from the exhaust manifold using an O2 sensor socket and socket wrench.

  • Thread and tighten the new sensor using an O2 sensor socket and socket wrench.

  • Reconnect the electrical connector and replace the heat shield. Installation is the reverse of removal.
