The Jeep is the perfect vehicle to explore the countryside. One distinct feature of this off-road vehicle is that it comes with removable doors. If you need to remove the doors of your Jeep for repairs or to simply enjoy your driving experience, you also have to disconnect the power cables of the windows. Removing jeep doors with power windows is easy and can be done by any Jeep owner.
Open the Jeep door and window. This allows you to grip the door easier when it's time to lift the door off. Disconnect the power cables of the power window that are located under the left side of the dash board. If you are sitting on the driver's seat, it is located next to your left ankle. Unplug the wiring harness connector also located under the dash board. The harness is covered with a rubber tube and it is where the power window cable is connected from the car body to the car door.
Unhook the two black straps that prevent the door from opening too wide. The straps are located on the lower portion of the inside of the door. Close the door halfway and then lift the straps from the post on the door.
Take out the hinge pins screws located in the upper and lower outside hinges, using a T-50 torx bit on a ratcheting wrench.
Unhook the door strap from its hook on the body of the Jeep. Don't let the door swing open all the way so the mirror doesn't damage the paint.
Ask a friend to help you take off the door, as it is heavy and can become unwieldy. Lift the door up and over the hinges, lifting the hinge pins out of the hinges. Remove the door and set it aside in a safe place. Put back the hinge pins in the hinge on the door so they're in place when you want to put the door back on. You can repeat the same steps on the opposite door.
