Types of Headlight Bulbs for the 2002 Hyundai Elantra

At some point you will need to replace your headlight bulbs if you drive your car long enough. Four companies offer bulbs that fit the 2002 Hyundai Elantra. By researching the different types of replacements, you can find a bulb that can improve your night vision or allow you to navigate better in poor weather conditions.

Sylvania

  • Sylvania makes low and high beam versions of headlight bulbs that fit a 2002 Hyundai Elantra. The low beam replacement comes in six variations: the H7, the Silverstar High Performance, the Silverstar ULTRA, the Ecobright, the XtraVision Halogen and the Cool Blue Halogen. The high beam replacement is available in the H1, Silverstar High Performance and XtraVision Halogen versions. The H7 is an exact duplicate of the originally installed low beam bulb, and the H1 is the high beam equivalent. Sylvania also produces two types of upgrades on this standard bulb. The XtraVision Halogen produces a brighter light when measured in watts, and the Cool Blue Halogen has a filter that makes the light look whiter so the road is easier to see. Both types of light bulbs will improve night vision. The Silverstar series combines the two types of improvements into one bulb, with the ULTRA being the top performer of the Silverstar models. The Ecobright bulb requires the least amount of energy to use.

Lumiko Heliolite Company

  • Heliolite headlight bulbs are manufactured by the Lumiko Heliolite Company which is based in Korea. Heliolite bulbs are filled with xenon gas, and the light that is emitted is brighter and easier on the eye than a standard bulb, without the higher costs associated with using halogen or blue light filters. Lumiko makes one low beam Heliolite bulb that is compatible with the 2002 Hyundai Elantra.

PIAA

  • PIAA offers 2002 Elantra low beam replacement bulbs with either blue filter technology (Xtreme White) or a higher wattage bulb (Intense White) that produces higher quality light than the original manufacturer’s bulb. The company also offers two kinds of high beam replacement bulbs, either the Xtreme White bulb or an Ion Crystal bulb with a special yellow filter that reduces glare when bouncing off of fog.

General Electric

  • GE produces seven kinds of replacement bulbs that fit the 2002 Elantra: the Megalight, the Megalight Plus, the Gold, the Allday, the Superblue, the Euroblue and the Extra Life. The high beam bulbs can be replaced with any of these types, and the low beam bulbs only come in the Megalight, the Superblue and the Extra Life types. The Megalight headlight bulbs are equivalent to the factory-installed bulbs while Megalight Plus bulbs are designed for night driving and direct 60 percent more light onto the road. The yellow filtered Gold bulbs help with visibility in poor weather, and the Allday bulbs are optimized for the best balance between day and night driving. Superblue lights use blue filter technology, and the Euroblue lights have an additional coating that makes the blue filter more effective. Extra Life bulbs last longer than the other types, which lower the cost of bulbs over the lifetime of the car.
