You should service the air conditioning (A/C) system on your Jeep every 60,000 miles to ensure proper ventilation. You can remove the condenser for maintenance or replacement. If necessary, take your Jeep to a licensed repair facility to drain the refrigerant system before removing the condenser. After installation, take it back to have it recharged, including A/C compressor oil.
Make a note of the air seals (air deflectors) exact location around the condenser on your Jeep. You have to install these seals in their original location to ensure correct air flow around the condenser and radiator.
Remove the ground battery cable using a wrench.
Detach the upper condenser air seal from the grille panel. Use a ratchet and socket to unscrew the three mounting bolts.
Detach the condenser upper mounting bracket from the grille using the ratchet and socket.
Detach the two mounting screws from the lower condenser bracket using the ratchet and socket.
Disconnect the inlet and outlet jumper tube block from the condenser. You can remove the mounting screws with the ratchet and socket reaching through the front, right hand side of the grille (passenger side).
Plug the tube block openings to prevent contamination of the system.
Remove the lower condenser air seal. The seal is attached to the frame rail, on the passenger side, and bottom of the grille with three bolts, which you can unbolt with the ratchet and socket.
Loosen and remove the three mounting screws on each side of the radiator using the ratchet and socket.
Tilt the radiator and shroud toward the engine. Be careful not to damage the radiator fins on the cooling fan.
Reach between the radiator and grille and remove the condenser unit out of the vehicle.
Set the condenser in place between the grille and radiator.
Tighten the two screws that secure the condenser upper bracket to the grill using the ratchet and socket.
Tighten the six mounting screws that secure the radiator side brackets to the grille panel.
Install the upper condenser air seal using the ratchet and socket.
Attach the inlet and outlet tube jumper block to the condenser and tighten the two mounting bolts using the ratchet and socket.
Tighten the two screws to the lower condenser bracket using the ratchet and socket.
Install the lower condenser air seal using the ratchet and socket.
Install the ground battery cable using the wrench.
