The parking lights are the amber colored lights located on the grill, trunk, quarter panels and fenders (exact locations will vary depending on the design of your vehicle) that increase the visibility of your vehicle while driving at night or parked along the road. In most states, parking lights must be used when driving at night, as required by law. If one of the bulbs in your parking lights burns out, you should replace it immediately.
Disconnect the ground cable from the negative battery terminal.
Remove the amber colored parking light lens. On older vehicles remove the screws that secure the lens to the vehicle's body. On newer vehicles, the lens is usually retained by hidden clips that can be disengaged by gently prying the lens away from the vehicle's body.
Depending on the design of your vehicle, either press in on the parking light bulb and rotate it slightly to disengage it from the socket, or unscrew it from the socket as you would a household bulb.
Install a new light bulb into the socket. Be sure to buy the proper bulb for your car's make, model and year.
Reinstall the amber lens, either by gently pushing it back into place or reinstalling the screws that retain it.
Reconnect the ground cable to the negative battery terminal.
