How to Remove Camaro Door Panels

The Chevrolet Camaro is a classic American sports car built by General Motors. If you want to replace your power window motor, door lock actuator or speakers, you will first need to remove the door panel to gain access. Remove the door panel in your Camaro with a few simple tools by following these instructions. The procedure will take approximately 20 minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Pliers
  • Trim panel tool or flathead screwdriver
  • Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Door crank removal tool (if equipped with manual windows)
  • Park your Camaro in a safe, well-lit location. Disconnect the negative battery cable before beginning the procedure.

  • Remove the power window/mirror switch panel mounted on the door panel. Use the trim panel tool or a small flathead screwdriver to carefully pry it off. Once it pops off, disconnect the module from the rear and set the panel aside. This panel is mounted on the door whether you have power windows or not.

  • Pull the interior door handle towards you to access the retainer screws behind it. Remove the screws and pull the entire door handle surround panel off.

  • Remove the manual window crank (if equipped). To remove the crank, insert the crank window tool between the door panel and the crank. The clip will pop off and then crank can be pulled off.

  • Remove the retainer screws around the perimeter of the door handle. Keep all of the screws in a safe place.

  • Push up on the door panel to disengage the clips, then pull the panel outwards. Do not pull it off without pushing it up first, as this will break the clips. Disconnect the tweeter connection (if equipped) and the courtesy lamp connection.
