How to Remove the Center Panel From a Honda Accord

The center panel in a Honda Accord serves as the bezel for the radio, heat and air conditioning controls, and the GPS navigation system (if the Accord has this optional equipment installed). To achieve a good fit and finish, the Accord sometimes layers the trim pieces so that you must remove many components in order to remove the center panel. This will depend on your model of Accord, however.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips head and flat tip)
  • Locate the plastic clip at the base of the shift knob (for Accord models with a 5-speed manual transmission). Squeeze the clip and pull it down along with the shift boot. If your Accord is an automatic, skip to step 3.

  • Turn the shift knob handle counterclockwise to loosen and remove.

  • Wedge the tip of the flat tip screwdriver underneath the trim ring at the base of the shift boot housing and pry up on the six clips holding the ring in place. This will remove the shift boot assembly.

  • Wedge the tip of the flat tip screwdriver under the beverage cup holder and pry up on it to remove.

  • Open the lid on the coin pocket and remove the coin holder.

  • Remove the two self-tapping screws under the coin holder using the Phillips head screwdriver, unplug the electrical connector, and pull the center panel off the dash.
