How to Adjust Koni Struts

When you are driving down the road, the natural dips of the pavement will create vibration to your vehicle's suspension. To compensate for this, your vehicle is outfitted with a set of struts. Koni is a company that makes adjustable struts so that you can manually adjust how much shock absorbency you want. You can opt for less shock absorbency but a lower center of gravity, or a higher center of gravity.

Things You'll Need

  • Koni adjuster knob
  • Screwdriver
  • Open the trunk of your vehicle.

  • Pull back the trunk interior. You may need to use a screwdriver to remove some of the trim in the trunk.

  • Locate the top of the strut over the wheel well. Start with the driver's side strut.

  • Place the Koni adjuster knob over the dampers on the strut.

  • Turn the knob in the direction of the arrow to increase damping. To decrease damping, turn in the opposite direction. Turn the knob to the desired level of damping. Stop turning if you feel resistance because the damper is in its end position.

  • Repeat this process for the other side. When you are finished, remove the adjuster knob and replace the trunk interior.

  • Open the hood of your vehicle and locate the strut towers for the front struts. Repeat the process you used in steps 3 through 6 to adjust the front struts.

  • Remove the adjuster knob when you are finished and close the hood.
