The Mazda6 is a mid-size car in production since 2002. There are three distinct models sold under this name in North America, including a liftback, sedan and station wagon. The original equipment manufacturer's horn is an item that enthusiasts frequently replace with a much louder aftermarket horn. Replacing a horn on the Mazda6 is a relatively straightforward task requiring only a few tools.
Remove the front bumper. Remove the 11 bolts that hold the bottom of the bumper to the undercarriage of the car with the 10mm socket wrench and Phillips screwdriver. Remove the two Phillips screws and four clips from the top of the bumper. Remove the two front clips from each of the front wheel wells and the Phillips screw that holds the bumper to the fender.
Locate the original manufacturer's horn on the passenger side over the headlight.
Remove the power connector and mounting bolt from the horn with a socket wrench. Mount the new horn using the nuts and washers that came in the kit. If your kit has two horns, mount the second one in the empty bracket.
Connect the original wiring harnesses if they are compatible with the new horns. Otherwise, you will need to use your wire crimper/stripper to replace the original harnesses with the harnesses that came in your kit. You will then be able to plug the new harnesses into the new horns.
Test the new horns to ensure they work. It should be easy to determine if both horns are sounding since they have different tones.
Re-install the bumper by reversing step 1.
